HHMMM: Day 6

Unfortunately, I won't be home to watch a lot of movies this weekend, as I am spending the night at a friends house. But I did get one in early this morning, and if I am lucky, I can get another in Sunday night. I may not get a chance to view another movie, but I got 17 films in this week, so I think I'm doing pretty well.  And I will have a book review on Sunday for people to read, so the Halloween Countdown will continue!

So what's the film I watched this morning?

The Relic (110 mins/1997)

Kweeny's Rating: 2 1/2 out of 5

Summary: It's a "mystery-horror" in the fact that they don't show you WHAT the creature is until the end. But there is a creature, and it kills a bunch of folks in a museum. A really boring detective and an unlikable anthropologist try to uncover the "murderer" only to find out it's this creature that's some kind of South American Lizard-God-thing. It's kinda a neat looking creature, but I didn't find any of the characters memorable and they blow him up with terrible CGI. Of course, for the time period, this was good CGI. Though it does try to say some interesting things about superstition, I find they get close to saying something worthwhile and pull away at the last second. Seriously, the monster is the best part of this film:

LOOK AT THIS SEXY BEAST! A FACE ONLY A DERANGED HORROR FREAK LIKE ME COULD LOVE! XOXOXOX

I know, not a really exciting way to end the week, so let's hope I can find time to watch something better by Sundays end. Otherwise I'll have to wait until next week to catch up. I had to watch this though. His Lordship suggested it. It's really hard to say no to such an adorable Bear...

I can't say no to that face.

  2. I really enjoyed The Relic as a book --- when I saw the movie later, I was disappointed because a lot of nuances were gone. The ending was the BEST part in the book.
