HHMMM: Day 4

Today we were busy working on a coffin for my spiritual practices, so I only got two movies in today. Not sure if the coffin will be ready by Halloween, but it would be cool if it was. I promise to post pictures when it's finished.

As for my contribution to the movie marathon, I have two movies to offer up:

Tales From The Crypt: Ritual (99 mins/2002)

Summary: One of the series of movies I hadn't seen until now, and likely won't bother watching again. Not only is the cryptkeeper rather disappointing in it, as his puppet looks shitter than in other movies, but the story is rather bland, the characters rather dull, and much  more bad movie stuff. It's sad really, a story like this one could have turned out so much better. The Voodoo stuff was better than in some movies, but still not used to it's full potential as a plot device.

John Carpenter's The Thing (109 mins/1982)

Summary: Since my last pick was so disappointing, I decided I needed a pallet cleanser. So I dragged out this gem, and it cheered me up. A story about an alien being who can take on the shape of the beings it consumes is an AWESOME idea, especially when executed with such care as John Carpenter put into this film. Love the music, characters, story, special effects...there is just a lot to love in this one.
