After my awesome weekend of movies, pumpkins and Fright Town, I needed to slow down. (As well as take a bus ride home from Portland.) So I got two movies in:
Hocus Pocus (96 mins/1993)
Kweeny's Rating: I'll put a spell on you...
Summary: I love this movie. It's one of those Halloween staples along with Nightmare Before Christmas and Rocky Horror Picture Show. Yes, I consider Rocky Horror a Halloween staple, especially since a lot of performances of it I saw were around Halloween. But I digress...This delightful movie has Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three evil witch sisters who torment Salem after they are re-awoken from their slumber. There are few Disney movies I enjoy, and this is one of the ones I do. It's quirky, silly fun and I catch myself singing "I put a spell on you" every time I watch it.
Blood & Donuts (89 mins/1995)
Kweeny's Rating: Take a bite out of...a donut?
Summary: Another fun movie, this one with vampires! This movie was filmed in Canada, and has one of the best soundtracks going! And once again, "I put a spell on you" is playing in the background...that I had forgotten until I put it on. totally coincidental I assure you!
More movie madness to come guys! The month is not over yet! And I shall post pictures of my pumpkin carving tomorrow. I'm bushed from my bus ride home.
I love Hocus Pocus so much! I always wanted to be SJP's witch as a kid.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm really going to have to check out Blood and Donuts.
